Introduction

The Victoria Street Jazz Band is a Melbourne 4-piece band playing popular music of the 1920's and 30's. Originally formed back in the mid-nineties the band plays a fine blend of early New Orleans jazz and rag-inspired revival melodies in homage to those fine old folks who wore hats and braces.

The Victoria Street Jazz Band breathes new dust into the history of jazz, taking you back to your grandad's childhood days of smuggling beer and shining shoes for the nicer gangsters. Tearing out tunes made famous by the likes of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, the band pay irreverant homage to the greats.

The Victoria Street Jazz Band has lifted the roof at street parades and festivals, cooked up some heat in cafes and blown the leaves at garden parties.
